Building Strong Foundations During Grades 6-8
Cunha Intermediate School serves as a bridge for students transitioning from elementary to high school. Our school culture is deeply rooted in the tradition of holistic education, emphasizing the development of the complete individual. Both students and staff are dedicated to fostering academic achievement and positive behavior through the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support.
With a faculty consisting of 30 teachers, 22 classified staff members, three administrators, two full-time counselors, and a dedicated psychologist, Cunha is committed to nurturing a student body of 558 individuals. The campus itself has undergone significant renovation in 2010 and 2019, resulting in a cutting-edge educational environment equipped with modern instructional technologies, including individual Chromebooks for each student.
Beyond academics, Cunha provides a wide array of extracurricular opportunities, encompassing athletics, club involvement, lunchtime spirit competitions, and more. The Leadership Program, led by our accomplished students, orchestrates these diverse initiatives. Moreover, our students are offered an extensive selection of elective courses, including Drama, Music/Band, Craft, Agriculture, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), ASB (Associated Student Body), Spanish Immersion, Web Leader, and much more.
Mission
The mission of Cunha, like our school district, is to develop critical thinkers and socially responsible citizens who actively participate in their individual learning and development and are fully prepared to embrace their next challenge. We accomplish this by utilizing our unique natural resources and engaging the entire Coastside community and its partners in providing a rich and academically rigorous curriculum in a safe and nurturing environment.
